Hello! Happy Fourth of July! DIY projects that are quick and simple are the best, aren’t they? Today’s tutorial on DIY straw flags are just that and adds a cute little touch to your party drinks.
Candy striped paper straws that are red or blue are perfect for today. Use them later on for your outdoor barbecue and party! Add whatever personal message you want. And you know what, these can be made for any holiday or occasion.
To make these, you only need a few bits and bobs:
Cute paper straws
Cardstock
Scissors
Adhesive (a glue stick works!)
Marker
Page flag from the Tabs stamp set
Ink
Cut the cardstock into 4” x .5” inch strips. This will work for the normal sized paper straws. If you have some thicker ones, make them a little bit longer. This doesn’t need to be precise!
Once cut, fold them in half and then unfold and lay flat. You want to know where the straw will be on the paper so you don’t stamp the paper and have it wrap around the straw.
Then stamp the page flag onto the paper towards the end. Like so:
Write in your message with a fun colored marker.
I chose to write “drink up” and “Happy 4th!”
Wrap the flags around the paper straws and glue the ends together. I ended up snipping the flags to mimic the stamp but it’s optional.
Toss in an ice cold drink and enjoy!
P.S. July 5th is the busiest day of the year for animal shelters. Please make sure fur babies are safe and unable to escape while out and about enjoying festivities!
Happy Fourth of July!
